Luis Barragán, Sector Juárez, Guadalajara, Mexico, 1928
OfHouses presents “Pritzkers’ First Houses, part V”: Luis Barragán (Pritzker 1980) designed the renovation of the Robles León House when he was only 26 years old. The work is indebted to the regionalist traditionalism preached by the architectural movement known as the Escuela Tapatía or Guadalajara School. Barragán’s personal (and highly recognizable) style would only start to develop after him moving to Mexico City in 1936. (Photos: © Alberto Moreno Guzman.
