Gottfried Böhm, Junkersdorf, Köln, Germany, 1953

OfHouses presents “Pritzkers’ First Houses, part IV”: Gottfried Böhm (Pritzker 1986) is worldwide famous for his churches; his houses are barely documented and it is difficult to establish their chronology and even their main author (given the fact that, at the beginning of his career,  Böhm worked in partnership either with his future wife Elisabeth Haggenmüller or with Paul Pott). The first house where Böhm claimed its sole authorship is this little modernist bungalow in Junkersdorf, completed in 1953. (Photos: © Wolfgang Voigt, Karl Hugo Schmölz.)
