Jørn Utzon, Klampenborg, Tårbæk, Denmark, 1941
OfHouses presents “Pritzkers’ First Houses”: Zaha Hadid (Pritzker 2004) didn’t built any individual house until her untimely passing – her 2006 design for the house of Russian oligarch Vladislav Doronin and his superstar-girlfriend Naomi Campbell is still awaiting completion somewhere in a gated community near Moscow. We jump then to the Danish master Jørn Utzon (Pritzker 2003) and his design for the extension of an existing 19th Century villa. Utzon was only 23 at the time and was still awaiting to complete his architectural studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. (Photos: © Flemming Bo Andersen, Utzon Archive, Claus Borg.
